Rob Carlisle (Poli Productions)

Art Director

Rob Carlisle

Rob Carlisle has a background in Practical FX and physical manufacture. It was the film Dredd, in 2010 that marked his shift to digital as the first project to employ digital manufacturing technologies, using early 3D printing and multi-axis CNC milling to bring iconic props like the Lawgiver to life.

This placed his career on a new trajectory that saw clay replaced with ZBrush and his machine shop with a suite of Parasolid engineering apps. Soon Rob built a reputation for developing Digital-centric manufacturing workflows.

Tom Martin and Danny O’Reagan, the construction team behind the award-winning sets of Game of Thrones, founded Poli Production as a vehicle for introducing new technologies to the NI film industry.

As the Art Director responsible for delivering the concept jet set on the Kevin Hart helmer LIFT, Rob met the duo in Belfast. They very quickly determined that they had a shared vision.

Today Rob works alongside the talented team at Poli Productions developing innovative digital solutions aimed at narrowing the gap between Physical Manufacture and VFX.
